does not seem to be in a rush to have children.

The new generation does not seem to be in a rush to have children. They will only do so when they are ready.

When we think of a new generation, we typically mean Generation Y. It is the transitional period between the analog and digital worlds. When considering Generation Ys, they are most likely in their 30s, with some reaching 35, indicating that they are entering middle life and beginning to settle down, build stability, and start their own family.

When considering the characteristics of Generation Y, we will see ideals that have transformed the way they look at the world, their pursuit of achievement, and, of course, their attitude toward starting a family. The most common phrase for this generation is 'Generation Y people don't want to have babies'. In short, they see the current situation as tough, with several difficulties that irritate the world and society. If they are having babies and are not adequately cared for, they are better off not having them.

Having a baby when you're ready, rather than when you need one.

The issue of not wanting to have babies, or the sense of having to take responsibility for the babies as best they can after having them, is partly due to the younger generations' perception that having babies is not an investment in having someone care after them in their old age.

Most importantly, Generation Y individuals cherish their uniqueness. They think that each person's journey in life is unique. They have preferences and can make their own decisions. Looking back in time, the traditional family structure was an extended family that lived for many generations. It was the era of labor production, and most people were involved in agriculture. Traditional thought was based on collective society, which meant that each person was a complement to the family. They were meant to have family responsibilities, such as caring for elderly relatives and future generations. However, in the present day, the nuclear-family lifestyle emphasizes individualism. They believe in the path and achievement they choose without being overly reliant on other people or society.

Given that each individual has a unique pathway in life, as well as obligations and responsibilities to take care of things, Gen Ys do not expect their children to be born to take care of them in the future. They believe that taking care of oneself is essential. They must first take care of themselves in order to be as strong as possible.

The thought of new-generation parents expecting their children to take care of them when they are old is rarely spoken or expected, with the exception of responsibility to allow children the freedom they desire in their lifestyle choices. More importantly, Generation Y does not want to be a burden to others. They constantly appreciate accomplishment and even seek a means to age with dignity while still being able to live independently. They believe that life does not cease with simply remaining at home, but that they must continue to live and care for themselves.

In fact, the idea of Generation Y may appear self-sufficient, yet life is relatively stressful. They have concerns and risks to consider, particularly what they are responsible for. What to expect and plan for in terms of self-care along the way is to take care of their family as best they can, especially in terms of life and health.

Wouldn't it be better to have a stress-reducer like PRUHealth Rich Protection (HAW2)*

Health insurance that is ideal for Generation Y since it allows them to set their own premium payment (Deductible). It also provides comprehensive treatment with a lump sum payment for medical expenses for both inpatients and outpatients. The policy also covers alternative treatment** in which policyholders can feel more assured including the help of a medical second opinion service.

For Generation Ys who appear to be carefree, lively, and full of aspirations, yet whose lives are stressful enough that they need to console themselves frequently. Those who establish a family and have children are considerably more worried, and their 30s are especially difficult for them. Work, relationships, and family appear to be doing well. However, their health begins to deteriorate, their back begins to ache, and their blood results become abnormal. In terms of health risk management, removing certain health worries may make life a bit more independent. Consider making an effort to be less onerous. When you're unwell, go to the doctor (without waiting too long) and don't worry about the cost. Finally, when you are less worried, you will have more time to spend on your family in order for them to be stronger and happier.
