Prudential Thailand’s healthcare support continues after endemic

Prudential continues its ongoing effort to provide funding for vital medical equipment and resources for helping critical patients in Thailand

BANGKOK, 5 July 2022 Prudential Thailand was quick to react to the pandemic by providing continuous support for all Thais. Prudential Thailand joined hands with Prudence Foundation, the community investment arm of Prudential in Asia and Africa, and TMBAM Eastspring and Thananchart Fund Eastspring, the Asian assets management business of Prudential plc. to set up ‘Covid-19 Relief Fund’ to help critical patients by supporting medical resources. Over the last 2 years, the donations contributed to the construction of critical care infrastructure and various public health projects in five hospitals across the country.

Recently, the company continues its strong commitment to protect health and wellbeing of Thai people, by providing funding for vital medical equipment and resources to three hospitals upcountry. In summary, the company provided support for the ‘Prudential Covid-19 Relief Fund’ project totaling over THB 14 Million.

Ms. Pasalaree Theerasas, Chief Customer Officer of Prudential Life Assurance (Thailand) Public Company Limited (Prudential Thailand), said, Our company is committed to support the health and wellbeing of Thai people, as well as medical personnel who are on the front lines in the fight against COVID-19. Since the start  of the pandemic, Prudential Thailand, together with Prudence Foundation and TMBAM Eastspring and Thananchart Fund Eastspring, have been continuously working to support Thai society through  the construction of Airborne Infectious Isolation Rooms (AIIR), Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI) Clinics, Intensive Care Unit Negative Pressure Room, and medical equipment for five major hospitals in Bangkok and upcountry to help critical patients. These ARI Clinics will serve as a one-stop testing center to treat COVID-19 patients and patients with other respiratory diseases.”

“This year, it remains a priority for us to continue to support the additional construction of new Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI) Clinics and provide medical equipment including surgical masks and AIR purifiers. We will be donating THB 6 Million to three hospitals in Thailand, including Sri Thanya Hospital, the largest mental health facility in Thailand, and Sanpatong Hospitaland Thung Yai Hospital, which are both in primary urban centers with high populations and patients.” Ms.Theerasas added

Mr. Adisorn Sermchaiwong, Chief Executive Officer of TMBAM Eastspring and Thananchart Fund Eastspring, the local asset managers of Eastspring Investments in Thailand, said “We are pleased to support Prudential Thailand in this project and we believe this will help improve the well-being of our Thai people and accelerate the overall recovery of the Thai economy.”

Prudential established the COVID-19 Relief Fund in early 2020 to support businesses across Asia and Africa in aiding countries to combat the impact of COVID-19 pandemic. Additional assistance from the COVID-19 Fund has helped support Prudential Thailand’s efforts in safeguarding medical professionals and improving quality care for Thai society.
