Prudential Thailand partners with MyDoc to launch telemedicine and online consultation services on Pulse by Prudential app

Health and wellness app now enables remote consultations, medical certifications, and e-prescriptions with quick delivery

Bangkok, Thailand, 27 April 2021 - Prudential Life Assurance Public Company Limited (Prudential Thailand) is making healthcare more accessible to Thai people with the launch of telemedicine and online consultation services on Pulse by Prudential (Pulse), an all-in-one health and wellness app. Thanks to Prudential’s partnership with leading digital healthcare provider MyDoc, Pulse users can now schedule video consultations with a licensed doctor, obtain electronic prescriptions and electronic medical certifications, as well as arrange delivery of their prescribed medication from the comfort of their homes.

The new service on Pulse comes at a time of intense pressure on Thailand’s public health services and growing public interest in digital healthcare solutions amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Thai-licensed doctors offer affordable online medical consultation services with delivery of medication

MyDoc’s panel of Thai-licensed doctors and pharmacy partners are selected based on stringent standards. Designated doctors possess ample clinical experience gained at leading hospitals where they were specially trained and certified to conduct online consultations. In addition to being able to diagnose common ailments such as the common cold and flu, sinusitis and respiratory tract infections, they have also been trained to assess possible COVID-19 exposure or infection in a virtual appointment setting.

Apart from the virtual doctor consultation, patients can receive their medication prescribed by a GP at their preferred location via Grab, a MyDoc partner. For added reliability, Boots Pharmacy Thailand serves as the medication fulfilment partner for MyDoc, ensuring the safety and effectiveness of medications for the patients.

Susan Fanning, Chief Health and Wellbeing Officer of Prudential Thailand, said, “Telemedicine and online consultation services offer the health technology sector an opportunity to deliver healthcare virtually. As a leading insurer, Prudential’s purpose is to help people get the most out of life by offering holistic health and wellness services. Our partnership with MyDoc and the launch of telemedicine services in Thailand via our Pulse app is in line with this purpose.”

Prudential Thailand has been working together with specialized partners to fully leverage digital health technologies and deliver health information and guidance through Pulse, as well as provide access to medical professionals to make digital healthcare a reality.

“During these challenging times owing to the pandemic, Prudential Thailand, a company that promotes health and wellbeing, has been committed to helping people live well and healthier while they stay safe at home. Telemedicine and online consultation services not only offer our Pulse users access to healthcare professionals, but also deliver medical certificates, prescriptions and medication at their doorsteps. This step is a testament to our mission of making healthcare affordable and accessible to all people,” added Ms. Fanning.

Dr. Snehal Patel, Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of MyDoc, said, “COVID-19 has changed the way a lot of people work, live and access services, and there is a huge demand in Thailand for a safe and reliable source for healthcare. As the country faces a new wave of Covid-19 infections, it is now more crucial than ever that we do our part to reduce the risk of spreading the virus.

“As a telehealth provider, we are committed to providing a safe, effective, and timely access to healthcare for everyone. In fact, a recent Bain report noted that MyDoc has seen a 272% increase in our monthly active users across the Asia-Pacific region in January this year, compared to pre-Covid in January 2019. By working with Prudential, we are able to gain a wider reach, ensuring that more people have the right access to medical care, regardless of where they are. Healthcare should be available and accessible to everyone whenever they need it, and we are here to support the people for the long term.”

In August 2019, Prudential announced its regional partnership with MyDoc to offer consumers value-added health services via their mobile phones. Today, MyDoc’s telemedicine services are available via Pulse in Singapore, Vietnam, Hong Kong and now Thailand.

First introduced to the Thai market in May 2020, Pulse serves as a 24/7 health and wellness companion to users, helping them prevent, postpone, and protect against the onset of diseases. Since its launch in Thailand, the app has been receiving a positive response with over two million downloads to date, with the number of users still on the rise.
