CEO Anil Wadhwani and Thailand's Minister of Public Health discuss healthcare sustainability and long-term system resilience

BANGKOK, 17 August 2026 – Prudential plc (“Prudential”) has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Thailand's healthcare future, highlighting the importance of public-private sector collaboration in building a more sustainable, resilient and inclusive healthcare system.

The reaffirmation follows discussions between Anil Wadhwani, Chief Executive Officer of Prudential plc, and H.E. Mr. Pattana Promphat, Minister of Public Health, on opportunities to strengthen system resilience, improve access to health protection and address the evolving needs of Thailand’s population.

As one of Asia and Africa's leading life and health insurers, Prudential shared insights on healthcare financing, accessibility, transparency and innovation. The discussion explored how stronger collaboration amongst governments, healthcare providers and insurers can improve health outcomes while ensuring systems remain sustainable amidst rising healthcare costs and demographic change.

Prudential also underscored the important link between health, productivity and economic growth, highlighting the role that broader access to health protection can play in strengthening financial resilience, supporting healthier populations, and contributing to long-term economic development.

Anil Wadhwani, Chief Executive Officer of Prudential plc, said: "Thailand is an important market for Prudential, and we are proud of our long-standing commitment to supporting Thai customers and communities. We believe health is not only a social priority but also a critical investment in a country's long-term prosperity, resilience and economic development.

"Across Asia, healthcare systems face increasingly complex challenges, from medical inflation to ageing populations and growing demand for quality care. Addressing these challenges requires close collaboration across the public and private sectors. We value the opportunity to exchange perspectives with the Ministry of Public Health and to share insights from across our markets that may contribute to Thailand's healthcare sustainability ambition."

Thailand remains a strategic market for Prudential. The company has served Thai customers for more than 30 years and today supports approximately 1.5 million customers through its life insurance and asset management businesses. As healthcare needs continue to evolve, Prudential remains focused on developing innovative, accessible solutions that empower people to take greater control of their health and financial wellbeing, while contributing to stronger, more resilient communities across Thailand.

Data and technology were also central to the discussion. Prudential shared perspectives on how stronger health data infrastructure and the responsible use of artificial intelligence can help improve transparency, support evidence-based policymaking, and give stakeholders a clearer understanding of healthcare costs, utilisation and outcomes. Applied responsibly, AI and advanced analytics can also improve efficiency and enhance customer and patient experiences, enabling healthcare systems to deliver better outcomes with limited resources.

Prudential stressed that healthcare sustainability cannot be achieved through technology alone. It requires close coordination across government, healthcare providers, insurers and communities, combining policy collaboration, responsible financing, innovation and investment in people. For Prudential, this means contributing not only global expertise and best practices, but also practical support for those who play a critical role in delivering public health and essential services.

That commitment is reflected in "Give the Future", Prudential Thailand's initiative providing complimentary personal accident insurance coverage to frontline and public-sector personnel serving communities across Thailand. Since its launch in 2023 the programme has delivered more than THB 20 billion in protection, providing over 200,000 coverage opportunities and protecting approximately 80,000 workers across institutions under the Ministry of Public Health and the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration.

Prudential remains committed to working with government agencies, healthcare providers and industry partners to help strengthen Thailand's healthcare ecosystem and support a more sustainable, inclusive and resilient future.
